Respite & Short-Term Support

Respite & Short-Term Support provides flexible, short-duration assistance to help Participants and their informal support networks manage periods where additional support is required.

This service is designed to provide continuity of care, stability in routines, and short-term support when regular informal or formal supports are unavailable or need temporary supplementation.

Support is delivered in a person-centred, flexible, and routine-consistent manner, ensuring Participants continue to receive safe and structured assistance in their home or community environment.

In-Home Short-Term Support
  • Temporary daily living support within the Participant’s home

  • Assistance with household routines and stability

  • Continuation of existing support routines during short-term changes

  • Personal care and domestic assistance (as required under Core supports)

  • Maintaining structure and consistency in daily activities

Carer Relief & Informal Support Substitution
  • Short-term replacement of informal carer support

  • Allowing family members or carers time away for rest or obligations

  • Maintaining Participant safety and wellbeing during carer absence

  • Supporting continuity of care routines established by the usual support network

Community-Based Short-Term Support
  • Short-duration community access support

  • Assistance maintaining social routines during short-term disruption

  • Support attending essential activities or appointments

  • Maintaining engagement in community activities where appropriate

Routine Stability & Transitional Support
  • Supporting Participants during changes in routine or environment

  • Assisting during transitions (e.g. new support worker, temporary relocation, etc.)

  • Maintaining consistent structure in daily living activities

  • Providing reassurance and continuity during periods of change

Flexible Support Delivery
  • On-call or short-notice support (where capacity allows)

  • Increased support hours during short-term need periods

  • Flexible scheduling based on Participant and carer requirements

  • Integration with existing Core Supports schedules
