Life Skills Development
Life Skills Development supports Participants to build, strengthen, and maintain the practical skills required for greater independence, daily functioning, and community participation.
This service focuses on developing the Participant’s capacity to manage everyday activities, routines, decision-making, and personal responsibilities in a manner that promotes autonomy, confidence, and long-term independence.
Support may include assistance with developing skills related to personal organisation, household management, communication, social interaction, budgeting, travel training, appointment management, problem-solving, and other activities of daily living relevant to the Participant’s individual goals and circumstances.
Services are delivered in a way that is tailored to the Participant’s functional capacity, learning style, existing abilities, and identified goals, with the aim of building sustainable independence over time.
Daily Routine & Time Management
Developing structured daily routines to promote consistency, independence, and stability
Creating personalised schedules, checklists, and reminder systems to support daily functioning
Building time-management skills for appointments, household responsibilities, and daily activities
Strengthening independence with medication reminders and personal health routines
Establishing sustainable habits that support personal care, hygiene, wellbeing, and routine maintenance
Literacy, Numeracy & Digital Skills
Building practical money-management and budgeting skills for everyday living
Developing digital literacy, including safe smartphone, tablet, and computer use
Learning to safely navigate the internet, manage emails, and use essential applications
Strengthening functional reading, writing, and numeracy skills for daily life activities
Understanding and completing basic forms, applications, and everyday documentation
Household & Independence Training
Developing skills in meal planning, grocery preparation, and healthy food selection
Building confidence with safe kitchen practices, cooking techniques, and meal preparation
Teaching effective cleaning routines, laundry management, and household organisation
Increasing awareness of home safety, hazard identification, and emergency preparedness
Strengthening independence with basic household problem-solving and routine maintenance tasks
Travel & Community Mobility
Providing step-by-step public transport training across buses, trains, and trams
Developing skills in route planning, timetable reading, and transport app usage
Building confidence when purchasing tickets and using transport card systems
Strengthening road safety awareness and safe navigation within community environments
Supporting independent travel to familiar locations such as shops, libraries, appointments, and community hubs
